Ten days dedicated to Italian culture and friendship between Italy and the United States for the city of Chicago. As of this evening, the "capital" of the Midwest is celebrating its 2013 Year of Italian Culture in the U.S. with three concerts of Maestro Riccardo Muti, director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts are celebrating the life of the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. "Verdi is a composer loved all over the world, but - in spite of its popularity - he is not yet adequately known," - noted Muti. "It's a happy coincidence - he continued - that we can commemorate the bicentenary of his birth exactly in 2013, when we celebrate the Year of Italian Culture in the United States."
