    If someone were to say there is no such thing as Italian cuisine--that instead there are Italian cuisines--they would be perfectly right. As in architecture and history, Italy’s great eno-gastronomical asset is its diversity. Which brings us to this small selection of restaurants in New York dedicated to Northern Italian cuisine and its variety of rich flavors. From polenta to farinata, braised meat to pesto, risotto Milanese to liver alla veneziana: there are so many interpretations of these dishes that take us back to the ambience of that part of Italy underneath the Alps. And don’t forget the wines...
  • As one of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute’s two non-Italian American employees, and an enthusiastic champion of all things Italian American, I relish any means of entry into a better understanding of a facet of society I have come to value immensely (and love) over the four years I have worked here. And material culture is certainly an easily accessible point of contact, rich with possibility and nuance.

    At GR gallery a retrospective of Italian artist and kinetic art pioneer Alberto Biasi, featuring over thirty of his most famous works from the late Sixties until today, from his best known series “Rilievi Ottico- Dinamici”, “Torsioni”, Assemblaggi and his interactive installation "Eco-ombre" 1974-2014, for the first time on view in the US. The exhibition is curated by GR gallery's founder Giovanni Granzotto and its Director Alberto Pasini.
  • On March 14th, from 6pm-8pm, the project Your Shape and its eponymous exhibition will open at the Wook Choi Gallery in midtown Manhattan. The exhibition will remain open until March 19th. The goal: to bring the unique Italian styling of the beard to New York—the city that has transformed the beard into an unstoppable trend.
  • In his first US solo show, "The Street Is In The House", Italian born artist Carlo Sampietro presents five years of work based on his observations of life in megalopolises. The opening will take place at Ca'D'Oro Gallery on March 9 at 6pm. the exhibition will run until March 31.
