  • The Italian Americans is a four-hour PBS series which is scheduled to premiere nationally at 9 p.m. on Feb. 17 and 24. Narrated by Stanley Tucci, the celebrated actor of Calabrian descent, “The Italian Americans” is made of four masterfully constructed one-hour episodes written and produced by John Maggio. The film was presented in a special event organized by NYU's Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimo' in collaboration with public broadcasters WETA and WNET and introduced by a passionate speech given by NYC's mayor Bill de Blasio.

  • Professor Anthony Julian Tamburri's 198 page compendium, Re-Reading Italian Americana: Specificities and Generalities on Literature and Criticism, was recently presented at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimo by the author himself in the company of Professor Josephine Gattuso Hendin and Professor Martino Marazzi. The book is a brilliant analysis of the status of Italian American studies in America and Italy, a powerful appraisal of critical works in the field, and a literary feast.

    New York City. On January 27, Giornata della memoria, we gathered outside the Consulate General of Italy on Park Avenue to read the names of the thousands of Italian Jewish victims of the Holocaust. This year the traditional ceremony is enrich with a new feature: the invitation to the public is not just the one to read, but to play music as a counterpoint to the ongoing reading. Among the performing artists, guitarist and arranger Brandon Ross, composer and conductor Lawrence "Butch" Morris, multi-instrumentalist Avram Fefer, guitarist Marco Cappelli, bass player Bernd Klug, and musician Mauro Pagani who will play the violin.
