Cinema Italia SF presents a film series dedicated to Italian actor, director, and screenwriter Ugo Tognazzi. The program, produced by LUCE CINECITTA in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco, will be shown on April 27th in San Francisco’s Castro Theatre. It will feature a selection of five films and a themed party.

Upon retiring as the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco, Amelia Antonucci found that her energy had not declined while her love of film persisted. Thus Cinema Italia SF was born, and it’s now in its fifth year.

Me and You, Io e Te, is a film from 2012 by Bernardo Bertolucci, his last one for now. The film, based in the novel by the same title by Niccolò Ammaniti, was screened at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò as part of The New Literature from Europe Festival “an annual celebration of writing from across the European continent, featuring readings and discussions between leading and emerging literary voices from Europe.” Among this year’s representative there was Roman writer Niccolò Ammaniti.

Bernardo Bertolucci's first Italian-language feature in over 30 years and first feature in 9 years is about to open in New York City, on July 4th to be exact, and in more theaters across the US. Me and You is part of the Cinema Made in Italy Series, a major new initiative between Cinecittà Luce, the Italian Trade Commission and the film distributor Emerging Pictures that brings Italian films to American audiences.

MoMA celebrates legendary Italian filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci with a retrospective of his work. Showing through January 12th, the program includes screenings of iconic masterpieces "The Conformist" and "Last Tango in Paris" in newly restored prints.
