Gruppo Italiano Table Talks at NYU's Casa Italiana

Biodiversity and the Role of the Italian Food Industry in the World. Gruppo Italiano Announces Inaugural “Table Talks” Event at NYU’s Casa Italiana

Founded in 2017, Gruppo Italiano (GI) is a NYC-based non-profit organization, whose mission is to popularize authentic Italian cuisine, Italian wines and other Italian products, and enhance their image in the United States through education, events and promotions.

The organization provides a constant flow of information to member restaurants, producers, importers and distributors, as well as culinary schools, the media and members of the general public who have a serious interest in authentic Italian food and wine!

On Tuesday, February 27, Gruppo Italiano kicks off its long-anticipated “Italian Table Talks” series with this first event entitled “Biodiversity and the Role of the Italian Food Industry in the World”. It will be held at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò at New York University (24 W. 12th Street), 5:30-8:30pm.

At this inaugural evening in the series, a panel of experts from the worlds of academia, government and the retail food and restaurant industry will gather to explore the nature of biodiversity and to underscore the challenges of bringing products from the farm to the restaurant tables of New York City. This is a must-see for people in the restaurant industry, as well as lovers of Italian cuisine and culture!

Panelists will include: Inigo Lambertini, Deputy Representative of the Italian Mission at the United Nations, Maurizio Forte, Director Italian Trade Commission in New York, Franco Cordova, Innovation Chef at Bindi North America, Carolyn Dimitri, PhD, Director Food Study Program at N.Y.U., Lisa Sasson, Dietetic Internship Director at Food Study Program at N.Y.U., Lorenzo Zurino, Founder and C.E.O. The One Company, Gianfranco Sorrentino, owner of Il Gattopardo Group (and founder of Gruppo Italiano). The event will be moderated by journalists Andrea Fiano (Global Finance and VP Accademia Italiana Cucina) and Vincenzo Pascale PhD (Corriere del Mezzogiorno).

GI believes educational partners such as Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimo’ and the NYU Department of Nutrition and Food Studies are crucial in the effort to educate both the general public and trade members about the Italian food and hospitality industry. This event is open to all members of Gruppo Italiano and the Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò. Space is limited.
