  • Those who have followed Giorgio Casu in his events in New York city for the last 7 years know how much care and diversity can be found. From the white marble stunning lobby at Atelier on 42nd Street that followed Milton Glaser exhibit in 2010 to the live performance in 2011 at Gramercy Park triplex for Imaf festival and Corcoran group. The collaboration with other performers and artists are endless and considering that he just in his late thirties there is much more to expect.

  • The Italian Cultural Institute in New York recently showcased two remarkable installation pieces by Italian artist and receiver of this year’s Gotham Prize, Daniele Puppi. We had the opportunity to discuss with him these works of “re-animated cinema”, the concept behind them, his inspiration and his take on the experimental art scene in New York.
  • Unlimited Perception, solo show by the master of optical illusions Alberto Biasi, just came to its conclusion. A journey through kinetic art, playing with different materials, lights, and shadows. De Buck gallery opened its doors to a truly contemporary show that stems from the works Maestro Biasi created starting from the late 70’s up to 2012. Highly modern and experimental, these canvases confirm Alberto Biasi’s artistic greatness.
  • Visual artist, multi-media pioneer, filmmaker and poet Aldo Tambellini, has been selected to be part of the Padiglione ITALIA at the 56th International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale. Tambellini, who has dual citizenship, was invited by the Italian Ministry of Culture and Pavilion Curator, Professor Vincenzo Trione to participate with 15 other artists who will exhibit their works in the Italian Pavilion.
  • "Being Leonardo da Vinci," written by and starring Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, depicts the Renaissance Man in all his glory as he is interviewed by a modern day journalist. The format is rather unique: old Leonardo sits across a reporter who asks him about anything, partly in English, partly in Renaissance Italian and partly in dance.

    For about two weeks in June 2016, wrap artist Christo will create floating walkways to wind around Italy’s Lake Iseo in the Lombardy region, connecting the mainland to and surrounding Italy’s largest land island, Monte Isola. Viewers can also walk around San Paolo Island and the mainland town of Sulzano. The bright yellow fabric used for the walkways will continue on the streets in two mainland towns.
  • The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) has decided to create a new grant in order to support the ongoing “Save the Saint” restoration process, which aims to restore the Duomo of Milan and its 135 spires, including the one featuring Saint Francesca Cabrini, the first ever American citizen to be officially made a Saint by the Catholic Church. As a naturalized US citizen, the figure of Mother Cabrini is very significant to all Italian Americans.
  • New York University’s Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò is hosting an exhibit titled “By Hand and by Lens”, featuring the works of ten talented Italian-American artists, all members of IAVANET (the Italian American Visual Artists Network). The show, on view through April 17, provides a great opportunity to come into contact with these artists, their varied artworks, and also their Italian-American identity, the common factor that unites and drives their work.
  • 8.5 million people have already bought their tickets for the Expo Milano 2015 collaboration with big name Italian fashion designers, the theme of which is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. Giorgio Armani is scheduled to open the Expo as special ambassador on April 30th with his Privé Haute Couture line fashion show.
