Peter Carravetta, [2] the D’Amato Professor of Italian Studies at SUNY/Stony Brook [3], is a philosopher, cultural critic, translator, and poet. One of the founders of iawa, he has written six books of criticism, and edited several journals and anthologies. Carravetta is the author of eight books of poetry, five in Italian, including delle voci (Anterem [4], 1980) and L’infinito (Campanotto, 2013); and three in English: Existenz (Adams Press, 1976), The Sun and Other Things (Guernica [5] Editions, 1997), and The Other Lives (Guernica Editions [5] 2013.) Additionally, he contributed to the recently published Poets of the Italian Diaspora (Fordham University Press [6], 2014), a bilingual anthology covering poetry from 1870-1970 edited by Luigi Bonaffini [7] and Joseph Perricone. Marisa Frasca is the author of Via Incanto: Poems from the Darkroom, published by Bordighera Press [8]. Her poems and translations have appeared in literary journals and anthologies, including 5AM, Voices in Italian Americana [9], Arba [10] [10]Sicula [10]'s newsletter, Philadelphia Poets [11], Adanna Literary Journal [12], and Embroidered Stories [13] (University Press of Mississippi, 2014 [13]), edited by Edvige Giunta and Joseph Sciorra. Frasca was a Riggio Scholar at The New School [14]where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, and she holds an MFA in poetry from Drew University [15]. Born in Vittoria, Italy, Frasca lives in Manhattan and Long Island’s North Fork.
