The exhibition will be held at Piers 92 and 94 [2] on Twelfth Avenue and West 55th Street, and it will be open till Sunday, March 11.
Pier 94 will host 120 leading international exhibitors. Pier 92 will be the location for “The Armory Show–Modern [3],” the section of the show dedicated to Modern art, which will feature 71 exhibitors representing nine countries.
This year’s “Armory Focus” will be dedicated to “The Nordic Countries,” and it will feature representatives from 30 countries. Among the 19 invited exhibitors, 11 will be featured in the inaugural edition of “Solo Projects,” and 7 organizations will participate in the Not-for-Profit Section.
For those of you who will be looking for Italian exhibitors at The Armory Show, here are some tips.
Massimo De Carlo Gallery [4] and Cardi Black Box [5] from Milan, Galleria Continua from San Gimignano, and MONITOR and Lorcan O'Neill from Rome will be exhibiting at Pier 94: make sure to visit their stands.
Galleria d'Arte Maggiore [6] (G.A.M.), from Bologna, will be the only Italian exhibitor in the modern art section of the Show.
Here is a list of the Italian contemporary artists that the Italian galleries will promote at The Armory Show:
Massimo De Carlo will exhibit artworks by Bartolini, Cattelan, Cuoghi and Perrone;
Cardi Black Box will present artworks by Francesca Anfossi, Lina Bertucci, Mattia Bonetti, Carola Bonfili, Gabriella Ciancimino, Loredana Di Lillo, Flavio Favelli, Gianni Piacentino, Giuseppe Pietroniro, Alessandro Sciaraffa;
Michelangelo Pistoletto and Arcangelo Sassolino will be exhibited by Galleria Continua;
MONITOR will present works by Francesco Arena, Tomaso De Luca, Antonio Rovaldi, Nico Vascellari;
Lorcan O'Neill will exhibit works by Manfredi Beninati, Francesco Clemente, Pietro Ruffo, Carlo Zanni;
Galleria d'Arte Maggiore (G.A.M.) will present artworks by Giacomo Balla, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Nino Longobardi, Giorgio Morandi, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Giorgio de Chirico.
Italian speakers will also partecipate in the “Open Forum” series, featuring panels and conversations with top curators, museum directors and artists.
On Sunday, from 11 am to 12 pm, an event titled “Italian Contemporary Photography” will take place in The Wall Street Journal [7] Media Lounge on Pier 94. Bonni Benrubi, Francesco Bonami, Maria Antonella Pelizzari and Massimo Vitali will discuss the main trends and issues Italian photographers have developed over the last 30 years.
