  • The Association of Italian American Educators (AIAE), together with The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, is conducting a survey for a book on the growth and impact of Italian-American educators on the American education system. They are gathering information on the experience of Italian-American educators who have taught and administered in education over the last 70 years.   • Last Saturday, Jersey City’s Casa Colombo Italian Educational and Cultural Center hosted the successful opening of the exhibition “I-phone as brush / cell-phone as muse” by photographers Mirko Notarangelo and Kerry Kolenut. A show centered around the idea of the smartphone as a new art-making tool.

  • The honorees and special guests
    The Association of Italian American Educators celebrated their 22nd Annual Awards and Scholarships Ceremony at the Consulate General of Italy in New York on May 3rd, 2019. This year's honorees included i-Italy's very own Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Letizia Airos, who along with Cav. Giulio Picolli, Prof. Massimo Zordan, and Joe Piscopo, were awarded for their work in promoting the Italian language and culture in the US.

    On May 4, the Association of Italian American Educators with its President Cav. Josephine A. Maietta celebrated their annual Awards and Scholarship Ceremony at the Consulate General of Italy in New York. An important occasion to highlight the Italian language and culture and to encourage the young generations to keep on studying and nurturing them. Special awardees and guests of the night included Consul General of Italy Francesco Genuardi; Dolores Alfieri, Director of Italian American Affairs, who spoke on behalf of Governor Andrew Cuomo; Former First Lady of NY Matilda Raffa Cuomo; Rev. Msgr. Hilary C. Franco, Advisor Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations; Terry Paladini-Baumgarten, the Founder of the FiDi Lion’s Club; Cav. Dott. Joseph A. Guagliardo, President of The Conference of Presidents of Major Italian American Organizations and Dott. Mirko M. Notarangelo, Art Director, and Producer for Multimedia Educational Activities.
  • On occasion of the Settimana della Lingua italiana nel mondo, The Association of Italian American Educators assembled an intimate gathering on Monday night to reflect on the promotion of the Italian culture in the United States. The event was held during the 17th annual “Settimana della Lingua italiana nel mondo,” which aims to promote the Italian language and culture on an international scale. Guest speakers that night included actor and producer Tony Lo Bianco and distinguished Italian-American studies scholar Dr. Vincenzo Milione.
  • Earlier this month, Hofstra University hosted its 25th annual Italian festival. The day was a chance for the Long Island community to experience a bit of traditional Italian culture, from dancing to food, and to enjoy the beautiful weather that day on the University’s campus.
  • The Association of Italian American Educators announced its Gala. Will take place the First of May from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Chateau Briand, located at 440 Old Country Road, Carle Place, Long Island. Please find attached the invitation
