A fascinating exhibition titled “Propaganda. The Art of Political Indoctrination” conceived and curated by Professor Nicola Lucchi of Queens College opened March 4th at New York University’s Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò, followed by a panel discussion with artistic advisors and NYU Professors Ruth Ben-Ghiat and Ara Merjian. It showcases a selection of works from the Fondazione Massimo e Sonia Cirulli mostly (but not exclusively) dating from Italy’s fascist period and aims to inspire a reflection on the mechanisms of political propaganda under totalitarian regimes as well as during “democratic” times.

Something is Moving in Italy, New Quality Cinema

A new approach to cinema is affirming itself in Italy. The pioneers of this metamorphic tendency in the art of narrating through images are the young writer and director Emanuela Mascherini and Stefano Amadio, the Director of the national film and audiovisual promotional platform cinemaitaliano.info. Their initiative, titled CineAtelier, consists of a review created to give space to auteur cinema through a selection of first or second works presented in decentralized areas.

Air Italy, an upstart Italian air carrier founded early in 2018, on Tuesday said it will start nonstop service on May 14 between Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and Milan, Italy’s Malpensa Airport. Air Italy will initially operate the new route three times weekly.
